Can I use a Seeing Eye dog to guide me through busy city streets after a long night of drinking?

When I go out for a night of drinking I don鈥檛 hold back. However, this past weekend I became so intoxicated I was disoriented. Even worse, I had no perception where I was and almost got hit by a car. The bars I go to are pretty much in a 5 to 10 block range and I always walk. So my question is where can I buy or rent a Seeing Eye dog to bring out with me to the bars and most importantly guide me safely home?Can I use a Seeing Eye dog to guide me through busy city streets after a long night of drinking?

Its not that easy ';you drunken bum';, these dogs are highly trained, and they have to be trained and or exposed with potential owners so they can bond with each other, and you have to put your whole trust into this dog, and being drunk, I bet you can't even trust yourself, much less a dog that will give its life for you. Call a cab and let these dogs work for someone who truly deserve them.

I think you have to be legally blind to get a dog like that, but hey try it out. One time I parked like 5minutes away and got a ride to the bar, and then I had to walk back to my truck. It took me almost 3 hours to remember where I was. I think I could use a dog to....
The Guide Dog is a great idea!! Not only will it accomplish your tasks, but it will be a great babe magnet.





You will encounter difficulty, however, in obtaining these beasts for these purposes. You may have to pluck our your eyes, or, you could run an advertisement in the local paper offering to rent one of them from a blind person. Oh, wait, they won't be able to see the advertisement, will they?

This sounds like a good idea. And when the dog leads you home you can sleep in the doghouse with it because I'm sure your wife wouldn't want you back in the house smelling like booze and drunk as a skunk.
You would want to contact a center for the seeing impaired to find out the actual answer to this question. But opinion-wise... I would say be careful when you go out drinking, you don't want to pass out in the middle of the street and risk yourself, or the seeing eye dog who will stand by your side and probably will cost a pretty penny wind up in a leary situation. Why don't you try a cab, if you're that close, it can't cost too much.
You should call Alcoholic Anonymous cause you have a drinking problem. Seeing Eye dogs are trained and used by legally blind individuals who need assistance performing everyday tasks, not for people who don't know how to say when at a bar. If you get so drunk that you wander into streets and almost get hit by cars you need professional help or need to get hit by a car so you'll learn a lesson.
